Memorial Mass.

I'm planning to attend my grandmother's memorial mass in the Dominican Republic.As a sign of respect to my grand mother, my family members are going to celebrate a mass monthly for the first year.My mother called me to tell me about her plans for the mass.I'm not excited about this trip because I'm going to remember this sad event.My consolation is that I'm going to see my family and i will support my mother emotionally during this difficult time.

Disappointed.

My mom called me tonight. She is very disappointed of my brother's actions .My brother has not attended his classes for three days this semester .I'm mad with him because he doesn't take advantage of the opportunities that he has.I spoke to him and explained that attending college is more difficult for me than will ever be for him.I wish that i could attend collage in my country.

Oscar de la Renta.

Today i want to write about a famous fashion designer, his name is Oscar de la Renta.He was born in the Dominican Republic.De La Renta's collections and designs have been featured in many famous fashion magazines.He has also received international recognitions because of his contribution to the fashion industry.He is a philantropist and has built schools and day-cares to help the poor in the Dominican Republic. Im proud to read about the sucess of this great Dominican.

Diabetes.

One of the most difficult moments in my life was when I learned about my mother's illness. Four years ago she was diagnosed with diabetes. At that moment I was devastated because I thought that this illness was a death sentence. I didn't know much about diabetes. I read and investigated this illness and I learned that people with diabetes could live normal lives as long they follow a diet, take medication and are regularly monitored by a doctor. My mother is doing well and with God’s Blessing she is going to continue to live a normal and healthy life.

My Favorite Sport!!!

My favorite sport is baseball. In my country, baseball is the most popular sport.When i was a kid i used to play baseball. Many baseball players in the United States are from the Dominican Republic and that makes me feel proud. In my country during the baseball season i always watched or went to the games. I loved to support my favorite team by attending their games.

May 1st 2010.

i read and heard about the times square bomb scare. On Saturday may 1, 2010 a man parked in the middle of times square an SUV containing a bomb. Thanks god that civilians and cops were able to work together and stopped this car bomb before it was too late. We live in the greatest city in the word and I hope that authorities continue to protect us the way they do.

My Favorite Cartoon Character.

When i was a child my favorite character was bugs bunny.Every day when i arrived home from school i watched bugs bunny cartoons with my sister.I remember spending two hours every day watching cartoons. My mom was always telling me to do my homework first and then i could watch cartoons. I loved Bug's personality.I also thought the way he treated Daffy Duck was funny.

The Back-Up Plan!!

I saw the trailer about this new movie.The plot of the movie caught my attention.Jennifer Lopez is the main character of the movie. I like her more as an actress than a singer.The movie is about a woman who has planned her future. One of the most important things for her is to become a mother. She got pregnant by artificially insemination but at the same time she met her dream guy.I would like to see this movie and distract myself from all the things around me.

Magazines.

One of my passions is to read magazines. I love to read about my favorites celebrities.Every week i buy a magazine and I'm informed about the daily lives and gossip about famous musicians, actors, and actresses. Some of the magazine that i usually buy are: Star, People, OK and US Weekly.At first, i collected all my magazines but now i decided to recycle them.I devote one or two hours in the week to read my magazines!!!!

A Bad Moment.

Yesterday was a difficult day for my family and me.My mom called me crying to tell me the bad news. My grandmother died in the afternoon. I'm very sad because i wasn't there to help my mom and see my grandma for the last time.Also my husband is on a business trip.I pray to the lord to give me strength in this situation.

A Difficult Day.

I had a very bad day. My health is not the greatest lately. I have an appointment to see my Doctor tomorrow. I made the mistake of self -medicating ,what a mistake!! to make matters more difficult my mother called me this morning and told me that my grand mother is not doing well .At this time we are expecting a tragedy. I pray to God that things get better soon.

What a Night!!!!!!

Last night my husband and I did attend our nephew's confirmation celebration at Humberto's in Elmont. It began at 7:00 PM the menu was fantastic the wines and desserts just out of this world. We stayed there a bit late it was after midnight by the time diner was over. My husband and I were the designated drivers and we made sure that the relatives that had a bit too much did not drive we drove them home. By the time we got home it was after one in the morning. What a night!!

What are you afraid of? Why?

I'm afraid of spiders.Since i was a child,i was terrified of spiders.I would scream and cry if a spider was in my room until one of my parents would come and remove the invader.I'm afraid because they look so ugly and i saw movies that show spiders injecting venom.Now i know that all the spiders aren't dangerous but I'm still afraid of it.I read that ''Arachnophobia'' is the fear of spiders.

Things that make me feel melancholy.

I feel melancholy when I remember the things that I left behind to come to this country. Such as my family, they are unique and I miss them everyday. I also miss my friends that always supported me at any moment. Another thing that makes me feel melancholy are my studies. I was studying in the university in the DR then I came to the USA and everything changed! Now I’m studying a new language soon after I will take regular college classes. I know that I need to work twice harder because the language. My family’s support and my desire to overcome obstacles are my strength.

Camila.

Camila is one of my favorite music groups.It is a Mexican soft rock band. The group includes Mario Domm, Samo and Pablo Hurtado.The group's name came from a friend's idea of calling the group "Camila" because it means "close to God". I bought the new CD that has a song that i love. The song is called ''Mientes'' in English is ''lying''.

16 and Pregnant...

Today i watched "16 and Pregnant". It is an MTV program and it follows the stories of pregnant teenage girls in high school dealing with the hardships of teenage pregnancy. The first time I saw the program I was shocked to learn how hard is to be a teen mom. The episode that i watched today was about a girl who was pregnant with twins. Her life changed forever because all the new dificult responsibility that she is facing. My mom always told me that our actions have consequences when we make a bad decisions it can change our lives forever with recourse.

My Favorite Store.

My favorite store is Forever 21. It has a lot of different styles of clothing. I always visit the store that is located in Roosevelt Field Mall. The store is now bigger, it has two floors. The store always updates their clothing for every season. I usually buy their jeans, dresses and blouses. I will continue to visit my favorite store!!!!!

What a beautiful day!!!!

Today i woke up early and in a good mood . I looked out the window and i saw a very nice sunny day. I drove my husband to the repair shop to pick up his car. After that I went to the supermarket to buy my favorite juice. Later , i took my dogs for a walk and we played in the patio for some time. After spending some time in the patio we realize that it needed to be clean, it took us a couple of hours but we did a very good job cleaning the patio.

What was my favorite childhood toy?

My favorite childhood toy was a doll named "Kathy". I was 9 years old and I was watching TV when i saw an advertising for "Kathy", I felt in love with it. I asked my mom to buy me the doll for Christmas. She told me that i need to do well in school and get good grades. I did my homework and all my school assignments.All of the sudden my parents gave me the doll, I was very happy and proud of myself because I did get good grades.I will never forget that day.

What do i like to do in my free time?

In my free time i love to watch movies. I watch every kind of movie from drama to fiction.There are a lot of movies that i can watch over and over every day for example: Pretty Woman, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Titanic.I usually relax by watching movies. The last movie that I watched was Green Zone, It is an action war film and the star of movie is Matt Damon.The next movie that I want to watch is ''Alice in Wonderland'', probably I will go to the theater this weekend to watch it.
