Memorial Mass.

I'm planning to attend my grandmother's memorial mass in the Dominican Republic.As a sign of respect to my grand mother, my family members are going to celebrate a mass monthly for the first year.My mother called me to tell me about her plans for the mass.I'm not excited about this trip because I'm going to remember this sad event.My consolation is that I'm going to see my family and i will support my mother emotionally during this difficult time.

Disappointed.

My mom called me tonight. She is very disappointed of my brother's actions .My brother has not attended his classes for three days this semester .I'm mad with him because he doesn't take advantage of the opportunities that he has.I spoke to him and explained that attending college is more difficult for me than will ever be for him.I wish that i could attend collage in my country.

Oscar de la Renta.

Today i want to write about a famous fashion designer, his name is Oscar de la Renta.He was born in the Dominican Republic.De La Renta's collections and designs have been featured in many famous fashion magazines.He has also received international recognitions because of his contribution to the fashion industry.He is a philantropist and has built schools and day-cares to help the poor in the Dominican Republic. Im proud to read about the sucess of this great Dominican.

Diabetes.

One of the most difficult moments in my life was when I learned about my mother's illness. Four years ago she was diagnosed with diabetes. At that moment I was devastated because I thought that this illness was a death sentence. I didn't know much about diabetes. I read and investigated this illness and I learned that people with diabetes could live normal lives as long they follow a diet, take medication and are regularly monitored by a doctor. My mother is doing well and with God’s Blessing she is going to continue to live a normal and healthy life.

My Favorite Sport!!!

My favorite sport is baseball. In my country, baseball is the most popular sport.When i was a kid i used to play baseball. Many baseball players in the United States are from the Dominican Republic and that makes me feel proud. In my country during the baseball season i always watched or went to the games. I loved to support my favorite team by attending their games.

May 1st 2010.

i read and heard about the times square bomb scare. On Saturday may 1, 2010 a man parked in the middle of times square an SUV containing a bomb. Thanks god that civilians and cops were able to work together and stopped this car bomb before it was too late. We live in the greatest city in the word and I hope that authorities continue to protect us the way they do.

My Favorite Cartoon Character.

When i was a child my favorite character was bugs bunny.Every day when i arrived home from school i watched bugs bunny cartoons with my sister.I remember spending two hours every day watching cartoons. My mom was always telling me to do my homework first and then i could watch cartoons. I loved Bug's personality.I also thought the way he treated Daffy Duck was funny.

The Back-Up Plan!!

I saw the trailer about this new movie.The plot of the movie caught my attention.Jennifer Lopez is the main character of the movie. I like her more as an actress than a singer.The movie is about a woman who has planned her future. One of the most important things for her is to become a mother. She got pregnant by artificially insemination but at the same time she met her dream guy.I would like to see this movie and distract myself from all the things around me.

Magazines.

One of my passions is to read magazines. I love to read about my favorites celebrities.Every week i buy a magazine and I'm informed about the daily lives and gossip about famous musicians, actors, and actresses. Some of the magazine that i usually buy are: Star, People, OK and US Weekly.At first, i collected all my magazines but now i decided to recycle them.I devote one or two hours in the week to read my magazines!!!!

A Bad Moment.

Yesterday was a difficult day for my family and me.My mom called me crying to tell me the bad news. My grandmother died in the afternoon. I'm very sad because i wasn't there to help my mom and see my grandma for the last time.Also my husband is on a business trip.I pray to the lord to give me strength in this situation.

A Difficult Day.

I had a very bad day. My health is not the greatest lately. I have an appointment to see my Doctor tomorrow. I made the mistake of self -medicating ,what a mistake!! to make matters more difficult my mother called me this morning and told me that my grand mother is not doing well .At this time we are expecting a tragedy. I pray to God that things get better soon.

What a Night!!!!!!

Last night my husband and I did attend our nephew's confirmation celebration at Humberto's in Elmont. It began at 7:00 PM the menu was fantastic the wines and desserts just out of this world. We stayed there a bit late it was after midnight by the time diner was over. My husband and I were the designated drivers and we made sure that the relatives that had a bit too much did not drive we drove them home. By the time we got home it was after one in the morning. What a night!!

What are you afraid of? Why?

I'm afraid of spiders.Since i was a child,i was terrified of spiders.I would scream and cry if a spider was in my room until one of my parents would come and remove the invader.I'm afraid because they look so ugly and i saw movies that show spiders injecting venom.Now i know that all the spiders aren't dangerous but I'm still afraid of it.I read that ''Arachnophobia'' is the fear of spiders.

Things that make me feel melancholy.

I feel melancholy when I remember the things that I left behind to come to this country. Such as my family, they are unique and I miss them everyday. I also miss my friends that always supported me at any moment. Another thing that makes me feel melancholy are my studies. I was studying in the university in the DR then I came to the USA and everything changed! Now I’m studying a new language soon after I will take regular college classes. I know that I need to work twice harder because the language. My family’s support and my desire to overcome obstacles are my strength.

Camila.

Camila is one of my favorite music groups.It is a Mexican soft rock band. The group includes Mario Domm, Samo and Pablo Hurtado.The group's name came from a friend's idea of calling the group "Camila" because it means "close to God". I bought the new CD that has a song that i love. The song is called ''Mientes'' in English is ''lying''.

16 and Pregnant...

Today i watched "16 and Pregnant". It is an MTV program and it follows the stories of pregnant teenage girls in high school dealing with the hardships of teenage pregnancy. The first time I saw the program I was shocked to learn how hard is to be a teen mom. The episode that i watched today was about a girl who was pregnant with twins. Her life changed forever because all the new dificult responsibility that she is facing. My mom always told me that our actions have consequences when we make a bad decisions it can change our lives forever with recourse.

My Favorite Store.

My favorite store is Forever 21. It has a lot of different styles of clothing. I always visit the store that is located in Roosevelt Field Mall. The store is now bigger, it has two floors. The store always updates their clothing for every season. I usually buy their jeans, dresses and blouses. I will continue to visit my favorite store!!!!!

What a beautiful day!!!!

Today i woke up early and in a good mood . I looked out the window and i saw a very nice sunny day. I drove my husband to the repair shop to pick up his car. After that I went to the supermarket to buy my favorite juice. Later , i took my dogs for a walk and we played in the patio for some time. After spending some time in the patio we realize that it needed to be clean, it took us a couple of hours but we did a very good job cleaning the patio.

What was my favorite childhood toy?

My favorite childhood toy was a doll named "Kathy". I was 9 years old and I was watching TV when i saw an advertising for "Kathy", I felt in love with it. I asked my mom to buy me the doll for Christmas. She told me that i need to do well in school and get good grades. I did my homework and all my school assignments.All of the sudden my parents gave me the doll, I was very happy and proud of myself because I did get good grades.I will never forget that day.

What do i like to do in my free time?

In my free time i love to watch movies. I watch every kind of movie from drama to fiction.There are a lot of movies that i can watch over and over every day for example: Pretty Woman, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Titanic.I usually relax by watching movies. The last movie that I watched was Green Zone, It is an action war film and the star of movie is Matt Damon.The next movie that I want to watch is ''Alice in Wonderland'', probably I will go to the theater this weekend to watch it.

My Favorite Holiday, Holy week.

My favorite holiday is Easter (Holy Week) ,the most important holiday in the Christian religion.I don't like the way that Easter is celebrated in the USA because is represented by rabbits and eggs.In the USA ,Easter has become a commercial holiday and has lost religious importance.In my country, the Dominican Republic Easter is celebrated differently.We celebrate it with abstinence and reflection,the greater number of people attend church.I hope that everybody has a wonderful holy week!!!!

Venice, Italy.

If i could visit anywhere in the world, i would go to Venice,Italy. There are a lot of attractions to visit. Venice is a romantic city and completely unique. I would take gondola rides along the canals. I read that Venice has a beautiful basilica that has wonderful architecture. Also, i would eat at a restaurant to enjoy one of my favorite foods, pasta.That is my dream vacation.

My Favorite Day of the Week.

My favorite day of the week is Friday!!!!! I love Fridays because i can go to sleep late and the next day i can sleep in as late as i want. Also Friday at night i usually go out with my husband. We enjoy the night at a restaurant or at a movie theater. Sometimes when we decide to stay at home we order food and rent some movies. Fridays will continue to be a very relaxing day for me.

How I Met My Best Friend.

In my first semester in the university i met my best friend in math class. We were in the same classroom and the teacher told us to work in group. I was scared because i didn't know anybody but she asked me to work together, since then we discovered all the things that we have in common and i was surprised that she was studying the same career that I was. She is unique and special to me and i miss her a lot.

The first section in the semester.

This week is the end of our first period. It was an unforgettable experience. I really enjoyed all the activities that we did. I will miss Barby because she helped me a lot. She is a great teacher. I'm focusing on the things that i need to work hard to pursue my dream. I wish everybody a wonderful weekend!!!!!!

Relax Day!!!

Today i woke up late.I had a very relax day. I watched two movies. The first was The count of Monte Cristo and the second was The Ugly Truth. I enjoyed the first movie. It was very interesting ,the characters, the theme was about how revenge can change our lives. The second movie The Ugly Truth was very funny.It is a romantic comedy about how people behave in a relationship.

Bad News.

Today i received very bad news. My grandmother is terminally ill. My mom called me and she is devastated. I have my husband's support at this time.I pray to God that thinks will get better. I would like to be with my mother in this difficult time.

Destructive Dogs!!!

My dogs are cute but evil. The cable i use for my laptop has been chewed on two times. This is the third cable I've had to buy. They are not cheap. These dogs can not see flip flops, sandals, or slippers on the floor because they will eat them. :o

Dirty Job, Pretty Roof.

Monday morning, a construction company put a new roof on my house. I knew they were going to come and start the job that day. I was prepared for loud noises and some dirt. That is not what happened exactly. The job was so dirty that dust was coming in through the windows. I was cleaning all day long. I don't think my cleaning will be done until the end of the weekend. However I'm very happy with the work they did and i love the way our new roof looks. :)

A Normal Sunday.

My mom and i visited the mall today. We went to buy a watch at Macy's. Then we went to a perfume store. My mom bought perfume for her best friend. The manager of the store made us test out so many perfumes, we couldnt smell anything anymore. :)....Then my mom took me out to lunch. After our day together we came home and watched television together.

My Mom's Birthday!!!!!

We went to Chili's Grill and Bar Restaurant to celebrate my mom's birthday. My mom was so happy . I invited some friends to celebrate with us. It was raining a lot but we really enjoyed it. We are planning to visit again the restaurant because my mom loves the fajitas. :)

Bed and Breakfast in Pennsylvania.

This past week my husband and I travelled to Gap, Pennsylvania to visit a lovely and romantic Bed and Breakfast named Hellmaker House. We visited this location a couple of years ago and we enjoyed it very much that is why we decided to go back. The rooms are equal in quality to the one's of a five star hotel. We drove to Lancaster Pennsylvania and saw some sections of the city, Lancaster is a city full of culture but unfortunately everything closes early. We eat at numerous local restaurants that serve delicious food. I highly recommend to all the B and B and all local restaurants around Lancaster, PA.

My mom is visiting me.

I'm so happy because my mom is by my side,she arrived Thursday night from the Dominican Republic.The next day my husband and i took her to lunch.We then went shopping at the mall and bought some clothes.At night we rented movies and cooked dinner together. I have not seen my mom since December, getting to spend time with her makes me very happy. I love my mom. :)

The Worst Valentine's Day.

The last day of school i learned that my husband was going to travel to the Dominican Republic for business. He left Saturday morning, the day before Valentine's Day. I was very sad because he was not going to be with me on the special day.The morning of Valentine's Day my husband sent me flowers, a beautiful dozen red roses and left them in our living room with chocolates and a letter. He made my day, i was happy but it was not the same as i had planned for our Valentine's Day.

I Had a Relaxed Day.

Today i woke up late. I got up, looked out the window and i saw a lot of snow!!! Usually everyday i take my dogs outside for a walk but today i couldn't because my backyard was full of snow. I had a very relaxed day , i ate my breakfast in my bedroom and i watched two movies and then read my book. After my husband got home from work , we cleaned the driveway and the sidewalk.Later we had Chinese food for dinner. Finally, I did my homework and checked my emails and i was surprised by Barby's email telling us that we don't have class tomorrow, ;)' . I checked the new homework. Tomorrow i will prepare for another relaxing day. ;)

The Storm that never came.

The media spoke about this enormous snow storm that was supposed to arrive late Friday and stay with us until Saturday afternoon. Thanks God for strong northern winds that did not permit the Storm to make it to us.We had a small dusting but no large accumulations. Now let see if the weatherman is right next Wednesday we are supposed to see another storm, lets pray for northern winds again. :)

My Passion.

My Passion is traveling. I enjoy to learn about other cultures and seeing new places.When i am pursuing my passion i feel excited, enriched and free.My first trip was to Disney World. It was a lot of fun, i enjoy all the attractions at the amusement parks. I would never forget my first trip and i will continued to pursue my passion.

The book that i choose.

The book I choose to read is "Eclipse" by Stephanie Meyer. Eclipse is the third book in the Twilight series. The history of the book focuses on the personal relationship between a human teenage girl named "Bella Swan" and male vampire named "Edward Cullen". The book also describes how Cullen tries to keep Swan safe and away from a group of hostile vampires.My first experience with Twilight series was when i went to see the movie "Twilight" the first book of the series since that moment I got very interested to read more about the "Twilight Saga"t. I known that this book is going to be a unique and pleasant experience.

My First Day at the LINNC Program.

My first day at school was amazing!!!. I met my teacher Barby P , I also met my new classmates . They come from many countries, for example Mexico, Ecuador,and Haiti. My teacher was very pleasant ,organized and well prepared in our first day at school. She explained clearly information about our class. I expect to improve my vocabulary, I hope to expand my knowledge of the English language and more important I expect to obtain my degree in Hotel Technology Administration.
